Trainee Multi Professional Approved Clinician in Eating Disorders

Job summary

An opportunity for a highly experienced clinician to train as an MPAC to work part time into the adult eating disorders service. On successful completion of the training the post holder will be expected to take up a part time role working as an MPAC in to a highly specialist service working alongside 2 consultant psychiatrists, a trainee ACP and the wider MDT. The successful applicant will join a multi disciplinary team working with complex patients with primary eating disorders. There will also be the opportunity to offer consultation to staff in the wider trust and primary care in regards to patients with eating difficulties and co-morbid mental health problems. The eating disorders service serves Derby and Derbyshire and the successful applicant will be expected to travel to see patients close to their homes. The service has access to specialist inpatient beds for patients with eating disorders and also works closely acute and community mental health services and acute physical health services. The post holder will be expected to be knowledgeable about the field and committed to providing high standards of clinical care.

Th e post holder will be expected to be a leader. An ability to prescribe would be advantageous.

The post holder will be expected to demonstrate substantial experience in providing the equivalent of consultant level care in eating disorders or another related disorder.

Main duties of the job

As a senior clinician and an approved clinician in training the post holder will hold a caseload of eating disorders clients who require psychiatric input . supervision will be provided by a psychiatrist and training will be provided towards becoming an Approved Clinician.

The post holder will be able to exercise professional judgement in highly complex clinical situations including statutory decision making and risk management.

The post holder will be expected to be knowledgeable about risk and to provide expert guidance related to eating disorders both to colleagues in the service and to staff in the wider trust about how to manage the risks effectively.

Once fully qualified the post holder will work autonomously as a senior clinician with a range of complex eating disorders patients. Providing guidance about their care within the context of an MDT.

Derbyshire eating disorders service has recently expanded consists of psychiatry, occupational therapy , psychological therapists, peer workers and support workers, dietitians, Nurses and assistant psychologists. It provides a clinical service to people with a primary eating disorder and supports the wider health community with advice and support regarding clients with complex disorders including eating.
