Job summary
Are you an experienced operational manager looking for your next challenge? We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Care Group Deputy Operational Manager to join the AWA Community and Assessment Services Care Group for a period of 3 months.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone wanting to develop in their professional career and be part of the implementation and delivery of the new operating model.
You will have:
- A degree or equivalent, plus postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in operational management within the NHS or similar environment
- Strong leadership, influencing, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across professions and services
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
- Experience in service planning, project management, and/or change leadership
Experience in mental health settings is essential and a management qualification is desirable.

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Manage operational staff and multidisciplinary teams across all sites
- Lead service delivery and improvement initiatives, translating national guidance into local plans
- Support recruitment, retention, appraisal, and training of staff
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies, mandatory training, and health & safety standards
- Investigate complaints and incidents, implementing improvements
- Oversee governance arrangements and contribute to financial management
- Foster a culture of openness, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Participate in the management on-call rota (first)
