Job summary

This is a great opportunity for a full time Band 6 nurse to join our team and support their transfer to a new 18 bedded Male acute Mental Health Ward based in Chesterfield.

We currently care for 21 Working age adult acute mental health patients on Tansley Ward at the Hartington Unit however we are shortly due to move to Oak Ward in our new purpose built facility at the Derwent Unit, both units are sited on the grounds of Chesterfield Royal Hospital. This is an exciting time to work for Derbyshire Healthcare as we are currently undertaking a programme to create purpose-built facilities to improve the safety, privacy and dignity for our adult acute mental health patients.

Oak Ward is an 18 bedded unit which will be focused on therapeutic interventions and will deliver care to the national standard. There will be a focus on wider MDT working, Trauma informed care, sensory awareness and formulation. The unit is due to open in early 2025, therefore this will be a great opportunity for you to be part of shaping the service and building the team along with the Senior Nurse and other senior leaders.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing strong clinical leadership, ensuring evidence-based practice is delivered to improve the quality of and shape responsive services.
  • Monitoring and ensure maintenance of standards of care that support safe high quality practice throughout the twenty-four hour period.
  • Supporting junior colleagues within the multi-disciplinary process.
  • Supervising and promoting staff development.
  • Be part of the Bleep Holder rota.

  • NMC Registered Nurse - RNMH or RNLD
  • Educated to Diploma Level (ie Dip HE Nursing) or evidence of post qualification education/training

Desirable

  • Previous, recent, relevant experience

Leadership Skills

  • Demonstrate leadership skills such as motivation, facilitation, mentorship, etc. Demonstrate up-to-date evidence-based practice
  • Experience in managing and leading a team in difficult clinical situations
