Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, innovative, and motivated individual to join our well-established Safeguarding Team.

You will work alongside the existing Assistant Director for Safeguarding Children who has retired and returned.

The post offered is a permanent position, Band 8B, 2 days per week, working Mondays and Fridays (flexible) and will be based at Kingsway House, Derby.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced professional with a health and/or Social Care background who has a sound knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and adults' processes and current legislation, with substantial experience, in the Safeguarding arena. With substantial post qualification experience within their specialist practice area of work and experience of Think Family principles. Also, recent experience at Band 8A required.

You will be strategic in nature but with an operational focus, who will work closely with professionals and partner organisations to deliver a comprehensive safeguarding function and working alongside managers and senior clinicians in the Trust to ensure robust arrangements are in place.

You will provide Cover for the Assistant Director of Safeguarding Adults when on annual leave or ill health for all aspect of Safeguarding Adults or named duties.

You will be expected to create an environment of continuous quality improvement and develop safeguarding practice across services; this will be through proven and visible leadership, knowledge, and expertise in all aspects of safeguarding.

  • oAdditional Safeguarding experience at 8A
  • oPost registration degree or equivalent in or willingness to undertake.

  • oTeaching qualification, e.g., ENB 997/C&G 730,

Skills

Essential

  • o Specialist knowledge of the Children's Act and national frameworks and guidelines/legislation and the ability to understand and apply.
  • oSpecialist knowledge of children's health and development, and nature of child maltreatment
  • oAbility to analyse issues and think critically.
  • oCompetence to undertake internal investigations, CSPR/Learning reviews.
  • oSkilled in multi-agency assessment/assessment of risk and working together with partner agencies. This is also reflected in role within the first on call duties.
  • oExcellent report writing skills.
