Job summary

Chaplaincy service aims to assist patient recovery by providing person centred and support to individuals with spiritual or belief/faith system, including those with none , enabling increased understanding of individuals spiritual or belief/faith system (which may include none).

We are seeking enthusiastic and forward-thinking Chaplaincy manager to help develop the chaplaincy service within the Division of Psychology and Psychological Therapies. Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation Trust is a specialist provider of mental health, learning disabilities, autism, eating disorders and substance misuse services across community, inpatient and other settings.

Main duties of the job

To work as a member of the Chaplaincy team as it provides a specialist mental health and neurodevelopmental service to patients, service users, carers, and staff throughout the catchment areas of Chesterfield and Derbyshire. This will be accomplished through day-to-day engagement of mental health issues and their interface with spirituality, as each relates to dynamics of faith, no faith and/or cultural affiliation. This engagement will require, but not be limited to, regular and ongoing psycho-spiritual assessment(s), use of therapeutic skills and the ongoing offer of support for persons, groups, and the Trust at large, including consultation on aspects of psycho-spiritual practice in mental health as required. To assist patient recovery by providing person centred attendance and support, enabling increased understanding of individuals spiritual or belief/faith system.

Training & knowledge

Essential

  • Graduate or experiential equivalent in religion, theology, divinity, or in an area of human services such as counselling and guidance, psychology, mental health practitioner, social work, etc.
