Would you like the opportunity to step into a pharmacy technician leadership role and help shape the pharmacy and wider healthcare workforce of tomorrow?

An unique opportunity for an experienced registered pharmacy technician to work with the existing post holder to lead and take forward the education strategy to develop the technician workforce to meet the patient needs of today and tomorrow whilst also developing their own career.

This unique opportunity will enable you to develop your own skills and knowledge whilst leading on the standards for PTPTs and pharmacy support workers courses. Continue development of educational training plans for our technicians and pharmacy support workers.

This full time role will consist of 3 days education and training, of which one day will be operational based at Kingsway and two days supporting the wards with medicine management duties.

Pharmacy already has a well-established education and training portfolio including pre-registration pharmcy technicians, undergraduate placements, trainee pharmacists, and bespoke in-house training. Within the wider Trust we have strong links to medical and nursing medicine-related education.

Develop effective working relationships with regional education groups.

Main duties of the job

Lead and develop on key aspects of pharmacy technician, pharmacy support worker and pre-registration trainee pharmacy technician (PTPT) training within pharmacy.

Work with the Advanced Mental Health Education and Training pharmacist.

Create a culture where learning and development is valued and embraced within the department.

Ensure all staff have the knowledge, skills, and competency to meet professional (GPhC) and service standards.

Lead for revalidation and professional development for pharmacy technicians, pharmacy support workers and PTPT in line with GPhC and national guidance.

Lead on training programmes within pharmacy. Review standards within these training programmes regularly to ensure standards within are adhered too.

Responsibity for the PTPT and pharmacy support workers training programme to ensure deadlines are met, standards are adhered too and reviewed in line with GPhC guidance.

Day to day management of PTPT and pharmacy support workers undertaking training.

Lead on the recruitement of PTPTs.

Operational training and support to all team members.

Participate in rotated medicines management visits to clinical areas and undertake dispensary and ACT sessions within the dispensary.

Attend educational and training meeting within the trust and outside to support training and development stategies

Encourage and develop the pharmacy workforce of the future by attending identified career events.
