Job summary
The expansion of the Occupational Therapy provision within the Forensic Community Mental Health Team (FCMHT) means there is an exciting new role for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist.
The post holder will work across the whole of Derbyshire with adults with complex mental health needs and a forensic history who have been referred to the FCMHT. The role is based within the multi-disciplinary team working from Kingsway House or other delegated areas.
The post holder should have an interest in working in a forensic or mental health community setting. As a member of the FCMHT the post holder will be expected to adopt the policies and philosophy of the service. You will provide range of occupational therapy assessment and appropriate interventions based on the recovery philosophy and Model of Human Occupation (MoHO) framework.
You will also be involved in supporting the Senior OT with service development and quality improvement projects, such as the development of the vocational rehabilitation pathway, supporting individuals who want to work find employment and building links with other partners and organisations.
FCMHT advocates career progression and the professional development of the OT work force. You will also be expected to undertake necessary training and development opportunities within the team and the wider occupational therapy profession

Main duties of the job
To provide OT assessment and intervention of a person's occupational and functional needs. Interventions provided will be within the practitioner's sphere of competency. The practitioner is expected to liaise with colleagues who may be more experienced within a particular field as and when required.
You will assist in the management a diverse caseload of patients across all adult vulnerabilities facing complex mental health challenges, within the context of the Criminal Justice System or with forensic background.
You will work closely with the multi - disciplinary team, giving you the opportunity to work with the OT, CPNs, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, and Enablement Workers. You will liaise with other partner agencies such as police, probation, social care, CMHT and inpatient units.
You will support the SOT with the development of the vocational pathway supporting individual to overcome barrier to gaining voluntary work and/or employment with the aim of improving social inclusion and reducing recidivism.
You will assist in developing collaborative partnership working with our external partners such as 3rd sector partners and organisations.
As a clinical practitioner, you are professionally and legally accountable under the HCPC code of professional practice.
The post holder must be able to demonstrate that they are independently able to travel across the whole of Derbyshire for visits/meetings
