Job summary

Do you have a passion for teaching and educating?

We are seeking an experienced professional and motivated individual to join our undergraduate medical education team in Chesterfield.

Previous experience in a teaching role, whilst desirable, is not essential as you will have the opportunity to develop these skills in within the post.

The role involves educating, supporting and guiding medical students from the University of Sheffield, whilst on their psychiatry placement in the Hartington Unit and community in Chesterfield.

To lead the delivery of an established and award winning Lived Experience in Education Programme.

You need to be passionate about providing education and support to the students, as well as working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary colleagues.

Main duties of the job

In collaboration with clinical teams and the education department, support and facilitate medical student training in Psychiatry within the clinical environment.

To support bedside teaching, enabling students to practise clinical skills, such as history taking, risk assessment, Mental State Examinations.

To coordinate and support Expert Patients in delivering the Lived Experience Programme.

To be able to offer pastoral support to students who may struggle during the placement, as psychiatry can be an emotionally challenging placement for medical students.

Actively participate in the assessment process for student appraisal.

Contribute to data collection, quality and standards in teaching in order to maintain and improve on student experience.

Represent the clinical teaching team at appropriate Trust and regional education meetings.
