Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Non-Medical Prescriber to join the specialist substance and alcohol treatment service Derbyshire Recovery Partnership for a six month secondment. This post will be based in the Chesterfield treatment service.

The post-holder will be accountable for pharmacological interventions with substance misuse service clients, and delivering specialist assessments of need to identify healthcare priorities in relation to Opiate Substitution Therapy.

The post-holder will be supported by a specialist addictions psychiatrist and experienced non-medical prescribers who are all based in the same location.

Main duties of the job

The Specialist Substance Misuse Non-Medical Prescriber role will deliver prescribing interventions for Opiate Substitution Therapy.

The Specialist Substance Misuse Non-Medical Prescribers are responsible for undertaking initial prescribing assessments (and then ongoing monitoring and prescribing) for clients who have been referred requiring pharmacological intervention.

The role requires the delivery of individualised prescribing interventions based on the Specialist Substance Misuse Non-Medical Prescriber's assessment (or that of another medical prescriber in case of transfer) and will have the responsibility of ensuring that all prescribing (including controlled drugs) is undertaken in line with DHcFT prescribing policies.
