Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic full time Speciality Doctor for the Forensic CMHT who is interested in the interface between mental health and the law.

The Post Holder will be part of a multidisciplinary team and provide medical input to the patients under the care of the Forensic CMHT in the community.

The Forensic CMHT is an expanding service in Derbyshire and provides assessment and advice for high risk patients within inpatient and community settings as well as people in prison or under probation, Care coordination of the highest risk under CPA arrangements often with legal requirements for reporting to the MOJ and training and supervision within our own trust but also to external agencies.

The team covers the whole of Derbyshire but the primary base in with Derby Probation Service in Derby. You will be supported by regular Consultant supervision and appraisal.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide the day to day psychiatric care for patients under the care of the Forensic CMHT across Derbyshire.

This includes outpatient clinics but primarily home visits as clinical need dictates. There is an expectation the post holder will participate in the Multidisciplinary Team Meetings (MDMs).

They will liaise with other agencies including the crisis team, inpatient services, Kedleston Unit (Male Low secure ward), prisons, probation, MAPPA, Social Care and the Acute Trust in order to ensure patients receive high quality seamless care.

The Post Holder would be expected to prepare the various medical reports such as tribunal, CPA and Hospital Manager's reports, liaise with the various external agencies involved in the care of restricted patients and undertake assessments referred to the Forensic Service in collaboration with the Consultant.
