Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist who is passionate about the role that psychology can have within Mental Health Services for adults across the lifespan. We are pleased to be able to offer a post working in Erewash (Ilkeston), 4 days within the Older People's CMHT and 1 day within the Working Age Adult CMHT/Living Well team.

The post is offered at a band 7 or 8a (dependent on experience) with the potential for progression from band 7 to 8a through a competency-based gateway.

The Psychologists who work across our service value the variety that working into the CMHTs can bring and enjoy using a broad range of knowledge and skills to provide therapy for those presenting with complex mental health difficulties (including those with cognitive impairment), neuropsychological assessment for complex presentations, and offering advice, consultation and formulation to colleagues that value the contribution that Psychology brings to their work.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who has experience of working with people with a broad range of complex mental health problems and needs (including those arising from an organic impairment), with experience of evidence-based psychological interventions, and who is committed to multidisciplinary team working, has excellent relationship-building skills and is capable of managing varied work demands.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with service users, formal and informal carers and family members, and use a range of psychological ideas and interventions to improve mental health and wellbeing.

The post is line managed through a robust Psychology structure and offers great opportunities to develop a specialist area of psychological expertise whilst working therapeutically, such as within a formal therapy model, neuropsychological assessment, or supervision skills.

About us

The successful candidate will be welcomed into a vibrant and creative team of skilled Psychologists who have extensive experience, knowledge and skill, and are passionate about working within community based teams.

There are excellent opportunities for high quality supervision, and within our team we have Psychologists with further training and experience in a range of therapeutic models (e.g. CFT, family therapy, ISTDP and EMDR), and a number of Psychologists who have done further training in Neuropsychology and are on the SRCN.

Our Psychology Service has a strong focus on staff wellbeing, is keen to support and develop research activities, and is leading the Trust's development of trauma-informed approaches.

There are excellent opportunities for peer support, to join a range of specialist supervision groups and to participate in regular in-house and external CPD. We also have strong links with local Psychology Training Courses and provide regular placements and teaching.
