Job summary

Are you an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Clinical or Counselling Psychologist who is passionate about working with adults and colleagues within Mental Health Services?

We have a post in Amber Valley Adult CMHT (Ripley): 3 days with the general CMHT and 2 days with the Emotion Regulation Pathway (ERP) in the same team.

We will also consider part-time working, and full time role within ERP including other areas.

The ERP is a trauma-informed, evidence-based, psychology-led service for people with emotion regulation, impulsivity and relationship problems who may have a diagnosis of 'personality disorder'.

This post offers the opportunity to develop skills in working with a wide range of presentations and also specialising in therapy and service improvement for people with complex emotional needs.

The post is band 7 or 8a (dependent on experience) with potential for progression from 7 to 8a through a competency-based gateway. We are able to provide relocation costs for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

You will offer individual and group interventions, work jointly with MDT colleagues and provide advice/consultation and supervision on psychological aspects of a person's care, co-creating meaningful change with colleagues for our service users.

Within the ERP part of the role there will be a particular focus on support and supervision of multi-disciplinary colleagues providing Structured Clinical Management; and delivering group and individual therapies using Dialectical Behaviour Therapy or Mentalisation Based Treatment approaches (with associated nationally recognised training). There are also multiple opportunities to get involved in service development and research within the pathway.

You will be managed, supported and mentored within profession, joining our highly valued and well-respected Psychology and Psychological Therapies Division.

There are multiple opportunities for peer support, a range of specialist supervision groups (e.g. focusing on therapeutic models, dissociation, EMDR, neuropsychology) and regular CPD events. We have excellent links with local Clinical Psychology Training Courses and provide regular placements and teaching.

  • Good Honours degree in Psychology (2:1 or above). Eligibility for Graduate membership of the BPS

  • Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist by the HCPC
  • Eligible for Chartered status with the BPS
  • In addition to routine CPD and supervision, has demonstrated a clear commitment to developing a specialist area of expertise relevant to the post through significant training, personal study or experience (essential for Band 8a role)
  • Post qualification training in supervision of other psychologists (essential for Band 8a role)
  • Post qualification specialist training/experience through having provided assessment/intervention to people with severe and enduring mental health problems including with personality disorder and complex trauma under clinical supervision whilst working as a Specialist Clinical Psychologist (essential for Band 8a role)
