Job summary
This is a fantastic and brand new opportunity to join our growing Trust wide Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (TACP) programme. This will be the first TACP in the Adult Neurodevelopmental Services.
We are seeking applications from experienced Registered Nurses, Allied Health Professionals or Psychologists who have a professional first level clinical qualification, educated to degree level, with previous Band 6 experience within Neurodevelopmental Services.
The successful candidate will work towards gaining an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice, resulting in a senior position within the clinical leadership team and paid at Band 8a on successful completion. Course Duration: 36 months.
Main duties of the job
Candidates must be aware that this is a full-time course, and consideration of this is essential before applying. University attendance will be on set days, and you will work clinically as a Trainee ACP on the days you are not at university. Therefore, this post is for a minimum of 30 hours.
The next cohort for the Sheffield Hallam University programme will be due to start in September 2023.
The course comprises of both compulsory and elective modules.You'll be taught by professionals who are active in their field - so you'll get cutting edge, industry focused knowledge of your subject. You'll gain real-world skills through placements, workshops and live projects.
Work experience is also embedded into every year of the course, so you polish your workplace skills alongside building a solid knowledge of your subject. Applied learning means that when you do start work, you can dive in and make things happen.

The Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner will develop specialist knowledge and skills to provide healthcare autonomously to patients in their speciality through an established ACP training pathway within the Adult Neurodevelopmental Services.
The Trainee will work to develop and demonstrate competence with an expert knowledge base, complex decision-making skills and build competences based on the capability framework.

Clinical Practice: The ACP demonstrates in depth knowledge and capabilities in all aspects of health and social care encompassing advanced clinical assessment, critical thinking and clinical management skills that are evidence based and deliver high quality patient centred care across adult neurodevelopmental services. The ACP will demonstrate complex decision-making skills and competences for expanded scope of advanced clinical practice for service users and clinical teams according to needs.
Leadership and Management: The ACP as a senior member of the team, will also play a pivotal role in the operational development of their specialty. They will initiate, manage and drive change within the department, innovating changes in practice for the benefit of patient care in line with current trust and local programmes. The ACP will undertake the role in accordance with Trust and Departmental guidelines but have freedom to act within broad policies and protocols, in accordance with professional responsibilities and boundaries.
Research, Audit and Evaluation: The individual will support in the evaluation of services within the adult neurodevelopmental division. The role will include critically engaging in research activity, adhering to good practice guidance so that evidence-based strategies are developed and applied. The ACP will have protected time to maintain and further develop their professional competence.
Education and Personal Development: The post holder will have a Trust-wide responsibility to promote clinical excellence in the care of service users with neurodevelopmental needs by providing clinical advice, supervision and support as well as implementing programmes of induction and education for all health care professionals.
