This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic, motivated Dietitian to join the established mental health dietetics team in Derbyshire.

The post will be based at the Kingsway Hospital in Derby; however, ability to travel to various locations across Derbyshire is required.

The service also covers inpatient mental health wards in North Derbyshire and the post could be part based in Chesterfield on request.

There will be opportunity for some remote working as part of this role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for a varied clinical caseload and for providing a specialist dietetics service to our mental health inpatient units alongside multi-disciplinary teams.

The post holder will gain experience working in a variety of inpatient settings, including older peoples, working age adults, perinatal and mental health rehabilitation.

The post holder will be expected to provide high quality, evidence-based assessment and dietetic care plans for people with mental health conditions including psychosis, anxiety, depression, eating disorders and dementia.

The role will include a variety of nutrition support, disordered eating, weight management, diabetes, managing cardiovascular risk and a strong focus on the role of diet and lifestyle in improving physical health.

In addition to clinical work, your role may include delivering staff training or taking part in service development projects.

The successful applicant will be supported by a small and friendly team who are committed to continued professional development, clinical supervision and training opportunities.

We are a placement provider for student dietitians (A, B, C) from the University of Nottingham and the post holder will be involved in student training.

  • Undergraduate or Post Graduate Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or similar non-UK qualification

Desirable

  • Working towards course in specialist area of practice e.g. with the BDA
  • Completion of a clinical supervisory course
  • Member of the BDA
  • Member of relevant BDA specialist group e.g. mental health

Skills

Essential

  • Can give examples of quality initiatives to improve patient care
  • Possesses basic IT and computer skills
  • UK driving licence and able to travel across Derbyshire

Desirable

  • Completion of a behaviour change course for dietitians

Knowledge / Experience

Essential

  • Working knowledge of relevant local and national clinical guidelines and professional policies
  • Excellent knowledge of national guidelines and current evidence base related to dietetics in mental health e.g. relevant NICE guidelines
