Job summary
Our Youth Offending Service is a tiny but much required part of our service.
Sitting under the CAMHS Triage and Assessment Team, the Lead CAMHS YOS practitioners work with a range of young people who are under Youth Offending Teams and also require mental health assessment and intervention.
The team attends referral and allocations meetings, with a centralised Health Hub and accept referrals for young people who meet the normal CAMHS thresholds (other options for young people include psychology or lower level emotional wellbeing work).
The Team provides care co-ordination and liaise with a range of professionals and agencies involved in young people's care such as social care, the criminal justice service and F-CAMHS.
The team accesses input from the consultants based within the recovery teams where this is required and also have close links with the Specialist Assessment Team who may be able to expedite ADHD and ASD assessments for particularly vulnerable young people (particularly where suspected neurodiversity is impacting on criminal convictions and ongoing risk).
Sometimes young people are transitioned to Core CAMHS or the Recovery Teams once their specialist interventions are complete.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
- Offer robust case management, care coordination and mental health support to those children and young people open to YOS with emerging mental health difficulties, acute and complex presentations.
- Ensure the effective delivery of services to young people made subject to a youth rehabilitation order (YRO) with a mental health treatment requirement.
- Provide high quality assessment and treatment for young people and their families, utilising knowledge and skills for interpretation, analysis of patients' needs, care planning and coordination.
- Be responsible for delivering IAPT complaint C&YP interventions in line with national guidelines and adhere to the DH National Programme and session by session outcome measures.
- Act as a role model to assist in the embedding of outcome measures (ROM) and outcome orientated practice in the team.
