Job summary
The Dementia Rapid Response Team based at Scarsdale Hospital is looking to recruit a band 6 OT to work within Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire locality.
The role will involve assessing and supporting older adults with dementia who live either in their own home or a care home who are experiencing an acute period of mental, ill-health.
Within the DRRT occupational therapists are core to the team in providing non-pharmacological interventions.
The appointed candidate will be expected to work alongside the team to continue to develop the service, offering high quality, therapeutic interventions to all service users. In addition, you will be expected to support with the duty triaging process.
The role offers the opportunity to develop assessment and intervention skills using both standardised and non-standardised tools.
All interventions offered are person-centred and strengths-based.
This role is based within a multi-disciplinary team of RMNs, Specialist Dementia Support Workers (SDSW), Psychiatrists, Psychologist, Physiotherapist, as well as 2 other OT's and an OTA.
The team work 8-8 in the week and 9-5 at weekends, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Main duties of the job
- The provision of specialist OT clinical advice on the assessment and intervention of clients' occupational and functional needs.
- Interventions provided will be within the practitioner's competency and within their major skill set, the practitioner is expected to liaise with colleagues who may be more experienced within a particular field as and when required.
- Using OT evidence-based, client-centred Recovery principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. Assessment and prescription of assistive equipment as required.
- Development of collaborative partnership working with our external partners, for example CCGs, voluntary sector, social care.
- You will play a pivotal role in this work alongside our partner agencies and people with lived experience.
- Supervision and support of fellow OT members of the team.
- You will be offered regular management supervision from your service manager and professional/clinical supervision from the Occupational Therapy Lead to support you with this.
- Support and develop student placements and newly qualified OTs on our preceptorship programme.
- Provide regular student placements/shadowing opportunities.
- You will liaise with our AHP Practice Learning Facilitator and AHP Preceptorship Facilitator regularly.
- Involvement in trust wide OT service development and innovation.
- There will be an expectation that the post holder will have knowledge of the Care Programme Approach and to support the Duty rota when needed.
