Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a Specialist Alcohol and Drug Liaison Nurse, to work in the Liaison Team based at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. Application for this role is open to both general (adult) and mental health (psychiatric) nurses. Working alongside Mental Health Professionals within the Liaison Team, and with direct clinical leadership of The Substance Misuse Specialist Lead Nurse, the successful applicants will be supported to develop the knowledge and skills to be autonomous specialist nurses in the challenging but highly rewarding area of supporting people with alcohol and other substance use related problems within the clinical settings of Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
This post is initially for 6 months but has the potential to be extended further as part of the government's 10 year strategy.

Main duties of the job
Guide the medical management of patient with alcohol or drug dependency.
Provide specialist assessment and psychological interventions to hospitalised patients with alcohol or other drug related problems.
Provide Liaison function between hospital and community alcohol and drug services to promote continuity of care as patients moved across health care settings.
Support the education of general hospital health professionals in regard to alcohol and drug misuse.
