Job summary

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our busy team of Paediatric Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.

Paediatric Occupational Therapy experience is not essential, however, adesire and interest for working with children and families is required.

The successful applicant will be required to travel to clinics, mainstream and special schools and homes across Derby City and districts of Derbyshire.

The service is forward thinking and supportive of new ideas.

We operate flexible working arrangements within the core hours of Monday - Friday.

Regular supervision is provided and we encourage personal development through internal and external training opportunities.

A mobile phone, laptop and full IT training will be available.

A driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential to this post due to the requirements for regular travel and allowances are payable.

A role in Paediatrics allows application of the full OT process and will develop your skills with a range of standardised and non standardised assessment, treatment methods, equipment provision, report writing and splinting. Full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

  • To hold a caseload of children within a community setting and provide occupational therapy assessment, treatment and advice to parents, carers and schools leading to an effective package of care using clinical reasoning and evidence based/child centred principles thus ensuring a quality service is delivered. To seek clinical support, from a Senior Occupational Therapist, as necessary.
  • To supervise and teach students and provide clinical supervision for colleagues, so that all staff achieve their full potential.
  • To participate in the planning and development of the service to ensure a quality service is delivered against the modernisation agenda.
  • To work closely with the multi-agency team to ensure occupational therapy is fully integrated into the child's care programme.
