Job summary

This is a really exciting time to join Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as an Occupational Therapist.

The South Derbyshire Adult CMHT is looking for an enthusiastic Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist to join their friendly and supportive team based at Dale Bank View in Swadlincote.

You will ideally need to have recent relevant experience of working with older adults with a range of mental ill health, preferably in a community setting, although not essential.

The work will involve managing Occupational Therapy referrals into the team and assessing working age adults with functional mental ill-health who live within their local community.

The work will involve developing and delivering person-centred care plans based on occupation and functioning, working in partnership with service users to achieve their goals.

You will have links with the voluntary sectors, undertake the role of Duty and provide staff supervision.

You will need to have the ability to travel across the geographical area of South Derbyshire.

Main duties of the job

You will be able to manage a diverse caseload and work closely with the multi - disciplinary team, giving you the opportunity to work with the Occupational Therapy Clinical Leads, CPNs, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, and Support Workers.

You will utilise the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) assessments that are used trust wide and will receive support and training in this.

You will be involved in service development and quality improvement projects as we develop OT pathways across the organisation, build links with our partnership organisations in the community, develop our Individual Placement Support service and grow our peer support services as we embed the Community Mental Health Framework across our teams.

You will be part of the wider Occupational Therapy Community in Derbyshire Healthcare, contributing to CPD events, practice development opportunities and workforce development.

You will be involved in recruitment of staff and the development of our support staff.

Involvement in trust wide OT service development and innovation.

There will be an expectation that the post holder will have knowledge of the Care Programme Approach and to support the Duty rota when needed.
