Band 5 Occupational Therapist(rotation) Suitable for newly qualified OTs

This is a really exciting time to join Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as an Occupational Therapist! We are looking for enthusiastic Band 5 Occupational Therapists to join our new and unique mental health rotation in Derby City. You will have the opportunity to rotate every 12 months across a range of our services and complete our preceptorship programme in the first 12 months if you are a newly qualified OT. We are aiming to implement a Band 5 - 6 development framework post - preceptorship.

The successful candidate can expect to work within a friendly, professional and committed team, receive regular supervision and have plenty of training opportunities.

We currently have vacancies on the rotation in:

  • Radbourne Unit (Acute Adult Mental Health) *
  • Children's Therapies
  • In Reach and Home Treatment team (Older Adult Functional Crisis response team) *
  • Dementia Rapid Response Team (Older Adult Dementia Crisis response team) *
  • Older Adult Day Services

Other areas you will have opportunities to rotate into after 12 months are:

  • Kedleston Unit (Low Secure Forensic inpatient) *
  • Tissington Ward (Older adults functional inpatient) *
  • Derby City Adult Community Mental Health Team

(*In these areas you will be required to contribute to a 7-day extended hour service.)

Main duties of the job

Ability to manage a diverse caseload and work closely with the multi - disciplinary team, giving you the opportunity to work with Nurses, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, and Non - Medical Prescribers.

You will utilise the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) assessments that are used trust wide and will receive support and training in this. You will also get the opportunity to explore other models of practice.

Involvement in service development and quality improvement projects as we develop OT pathways across the organisation, build links with our partnership organisations in the community, and grow our peer support services.

You'll be part of the wider Occupational Therapy Community in Derbyshire Healthcare, contributing to CPD events, practice development opportunities and workforce development. You will be involved in recruitment and development of our support staff.
