Job summary

Due to maternity leave and staff promotion, we currently have vacancies for a 12-month fixed term contract within the community support team for adults with learning disabilities (CST). The vacancies are for full or part time band 6 Occupational Therapists.

We are looking to recruit an OT with experience of working within learning disability services, OR an OT with good transferable skills.

We would welcome applications from experienced band 5's and current band 6's who are wanting to develop both their clinical and professional skills as well as developing their leadership skills through opportunities within our service and DHCFT.

The post will be within the Derby City and County community support teams and due to nature of this role, the post holder will need to be a car driver or be able to demonstrate that they can travel within the southern Derbyshire area.

For candidates from DHCFT we are to offer this as a secondment opportunity subject to the relevant approvals.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to recruit OTs who are enthusiastic and motivated to work with the adult learning disability population, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and developing good working relationships with colleagues within health and multiple agencies.

You will use your core OT skills to carry out occupation focused assessments and interventions working in a variety of community settings.

You will have access to support from the CST OT team, the wider Adult Neurodevelopmental Service (ANS), and professional networks.

CPD is encouraged and you will be given opportunities to attend the NS band 6 OT support group to share clinical knowledge, clinical developments and training, and also the Trust wide OT practice development group to further develop your clinical and professional skills.

Regular supervision and individual annual development reviews are provided.
