Job summary

Head of Nursing for Acute and Assessment Services

This role will provide strategic and operational leadership and develop the clinical professional AHP and nursing profession across the Trusts services for the Acute and Assessment Services Division. This post will ensure the provision of a high quality, responsive and professional leadership / nursing service. It will provide professional lead/support to senior clinical nurses, senior nurse managers, named supervisees within the Trust and will work with the managers and senior clinicians in the Trust to ensure robust care.

Main duties of the job

The Head of Nursing will be working across Acute inpatient Services and Assessment Services in promoting:

- Quality improvement,

- NICE guidance,

- Patient Safety and Experience

- Safe care

- Reducing restrictive practice

- Reducing Ligature Harm

Qualifications

Essential

  • NMC/AHP qualification + registered with relevant governing body.
  • Educated at Degree level or above or relevant experience

Experience

  • Clinical experience of working within Mental Health services in acute and/or assessment setting
  • Significantly developed clinical experience equivalent to 5 years' experience post registration
  • Proven ability to work successfully initiating change and identifying areas for collaborative working
  • Good understanding of the needs of service users and their carers
  • Ability to use research and Clinical Audit to improve practice
  • Clear understanding of Quality improvement and methodology
  • Clear understanding of acute and assessment services
  • Awareness of Reducing restrictive practice and improving closed cultures
  • Awareness of self harm and suicide harm minimisation

Desirable

  • Completion of Quality Improvement Training
