Job summary
The successful candidate will join the current team of 4 Electrophysiology Consultants in contributing towards the provision and development of the Electrophysiology service within the region. The Lancashire Cardiac Centre (LCC) serves a population of 1.8million across The Lake District / South Cumbria and Lancashire including The Fylde Coast, Blackpool, Preston, The Ribble Valley, Blackburn & Burnley.
There are 2 cath labs out of 5 currently set up for EP, providing a high volume of approximately 800 procedures performed annually. The post holder will have experience and be independent in performing both simple and complex electrophysiology procedures. The unit has all three mapping tools - Biosense Webster, Abbott and Boston Scientific. Available single shot technology includes Cryo and Laser Balloon Ablation. Experience and willingness to further develop skills will be supported.
We value teaching and research. The successful candidate can contribute towards the weekly Teaching and supervision of trainees.
The cardiology department delivers a regional tertiary cardiology service, and the successful candidate will join the existing 21 consultant cardiologists in helping deliver a first-class regional service. The post holder will also be expected to deliver general cardiology as consultant of the week on a rotational basis as well as weekend cover as part of a seven-day consultant led service.

About us
The Cardiac Unit comprises of the Cardiothoracic Unit and the Cardiology Directorate. The Division is housed in a £50 million purpose built hospital comprising of 4 catheter laboratories, 4 Cardiac and Thoracic Theatres, with potential to expand to 5, dedicated outpatient and non-invasive Cardiac Physiology investigation unit, 20 day case bed, 20 cardiac intensive care beds and 89 ward beds.
The Cardiology Directorate includes 2 wards - 37 and 39 for Cardiology patients and 4 Catheter Laboratories with day case facilities.
