Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide the necessary skills to carry out maintenance work at premises within the Blackpool, Fylde, and Wyre, areas and those organisations that have contractual arrangements with Atlas. The main focus area of work will be on the Blackpool Teaching Hospital site working alongside the Electrical Shift team.
The working hours will as part of a 5-shift rota working 12-hour rotating shifts across days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
This will involve working effectively and being responsive to the users' needs with the minimum of supervision, whilst also providing support to the multi-skilled maintenance crafts persons and contractor staff, in the repair, installation, and service of hospital plant and equipment, site facilities and building fabric.
The post holder will be progressively trained with the intention of gaining increasing competence and enabling them to achieve and apply their ability at a higher craft and multi-craft workers level and to carry out most of the non-routine and routine works.

Carry out planned preventative maintenance work in accordance with Estates schedules and accepted good working practices to ensure safe and reliable engineering services. This will include but not be limited to Ventilation System Maintenance, Lift maintenance inspections, medical Gas system inspections, PAT Testing, first attender for blocked drains, door access/locks, loose paving, water ingress, and roof inspections. etc.

Respond to the shift maintenance operatives bleep system/mobile phone and deal with the situations as appropriate.

To support the Shift partner across the Estates Department on maintenance work and repairs as required.

Undertake unsupervised minor repair work that is related to their training and/or experience.

To assist/carry out the testing of fire alarms, hot water temperature checks, and changing lamps, without supervision.

Recording meter readings in various departments monthly and being able to interpret the results to highlight any abnormalities.

Education / Qualifications
Essential
- The ability to communicate with other staff within the organisation, patients, clients, visitors, and the public
- Have a good sound knowledge and a ranging experience of procedures for mechanical/electrical and building repair/maintenance work.
- A relevant certification or equivalent to City & Guilds or NVQ level 2.
Desirable
- Basic training in the use of access equipment; health and safety; COSHH; manual handling and back care awareness. Fire safety and management of violence and aggression.
- First Aid at work.
Knowledge & Experience: General
Essential
- The initiative and capability to carry out a broad range of core tasks as described in the job description.
- To have worked in an engineering environment for a minimum of 5 years.
Desirable
- To understand the relationship of other trades and to contribute to cross trades working
