The successful candidate will be working within Pathology which is a directorate within the Clinical Support Services division. Infection Prevention Control is part of Corporate Clinical Governance. The Pathology services provides diagnostic support for primary care (Blackpool CCG & Fylde and Wyre CCG), General Practitioners across the Fylde Coast and several peripheral hospital services. We hold contracts for Pathology services with Spire Fylde Coast Hospital - Local private providers.
The Department of Microbiology (including Bacteriology, Molecular Sciences & Virology) provides diagnostic services to patients within Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts and associated General Practices, covering a population of approximately 440,000 permanent residents. It is currently located within Pathology Services at the Victoria Hospital site, has a UKAS ISO15189 accredited facility, and the management arrangements are consistent with recommendations of the Strategic Review of Pathology Services.
Main duties of the job
Programmed Activities (PA's)
For a whole-time (10 session) contract holder the Job Plan comprises:
8.5 DCC Sessions consisting of:
2.5 sessions Infection Prevention Activity (Clinical/Operational Management)
3.5 sessions Clinical Consultation activities including ward rounds etc.
1.0 sessions Fixed on call (annualised)
1.5 sessions Team MDT/Lab clinical administration
