We are looking for a motivated individual suitable for an Occupational Therapist Clinical Lead position, in Acute Medicine, covering maternity leave until the beginning of July 2025.

The Integrated Acute Medicine Therapy Team is a dynamic and forward-thinking team, great for developing breadth of experience in addition to expanding various skills. The suitable candidate will have the ability to build upon their existing experience to lead a team of Occupational Therapists and Technical Instructors, planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the service, to ensure high quality care for patients.

As the Clinical Lead you will demonstrate excellent organisational, time management and communication skills. You should possess enthusiasm for the role, strong interpersonal skills, and advanced Occupational Therapy skills. You may be passionate about the OT role within acute care, leadership development and providing a person-centred service to our broad caseload of patients.

Main duties of the job

  • The Clinical Lead has responsibility for developing, planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the Occupational Therapy Service provided across the Acute medicine wards.
  • Manages the day to day delivery of the Acute Medicine service including issues relating to annual leave, sickness, and CPD
  • The post holder is responsible for provision of specialised assessment, treatment, education, intervention and discharge planning of clients referred to the service.
  • Has responsibility for managing a caseload of clients with a variety of complex conditions including chronic, disabling and life limiting illnesses.
  • Carries out assessment, prescription and management of equipment and adaptations on ward and community settings.
  • The post holder will act as a source of expertise and demonstrate knowledge, skill and experience in the management of Acute Medical conditions.
  • Educates other health care professionals, multi agency professionals and occupational therapy students in the Acute Medical service that is provided at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
