Job summary
Applications are invited for appointment to ST3+ Doctor to join our Stroke team, working predominantly on the combined Acute and Rehabilitation Stroke Unit (ASRU) at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. This permanent post is available immediately.
The Acute Stroke & Rehabilitation Unit has 39 beds - 16 acute and 23 rehabilitation beds. The Stroke Unit is based on the ground floor in close proximity to A&E and beside radiology to facilitate brain imaging. The Stroke Unit receives direct admissions from A&E after assessment by a member of the stroke team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will join our existing registrar and provide middle grade medical cover on the Stroke Unit and support the work of the 3 consultants. The team on the unit also includes a non-medical consultant, 5 ST1 level junior doctors , 2 ACPs, 2 trainee ACPs, Physician Associate and 12 stroke nurse specialists. The Consultants work a team job planning system covering acute admissions / thrombolysis, rehabilitation / outpatient clinics and daily TIA clinics. The Consultants are friendly, approachable and keen on teaching / training.
All candidates should be eligible for registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and MRCP part 1 is desirable.
