Job summary

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a well motivated and experienced Band 6 Specialist Audiologist.

The post holder will be the Lead for our Diagnostic Assessment Service, which will include testing of neonates referred from The Newborn Hearing Screening Programme.

This busy department provides a comprehensive Audiology service to the local population of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.

Main duties of the job

The service delivers all aspects of diagnostic and rehabilitative Audiology. This includes Direct Referral Hearing Aid assessment, as well as hearing aid fitting, follow ups, and aftercare. We also provide a diagnostic service, including the latest Bone Anchored Hearing Devices, Hearing Therapy, and Balance Assessment and Rehabilitation.

In this varied and challenging role you will be an invaluable member of our friendly team of dedicated Audiologists, to assist in the delivery of high standards of care to our patients.

You will be required to perform a full range of audiometric techniques as necessary for the provision of the service. Developing and implementing effective individual aural rehabilitation strategies to optimise patient communication abilities and report on diagnostic outcomes. You will also help in the supervision of student audiologists and assistants as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • BSc in Clinical Audiology from an accredited University or equivalent. or BTEC in MPPM, BAAT Parts I & II or equivalent.
  • Registered with AHCS or HCPC.

Desirable

  • Masters Level qualifications.
  • Clinical Educators Certificate.
  • Registered as Clinical Physiologist in Audiology with AHCS or HCPC.
  • Evidence of CPD

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Appropriate Post graduate experience working as Band 5.
  • Experience of Paediatric Audiology including diagnostic testing of neonates.

Desirable

  • Experience of Vestibular Assessment
