Main duties of the job
- Provide pharmaceutical support surgical wards, optimising medication regimens to enhance patient safety.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure accurate medication reconciliation, administration and minimize potential drug interactions.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in pharmacy practice.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of pharmacy protocols and guidelines.
- Develop strong leadership and managerial skills, preparing for future leadership opportunities.
- Assist in the training and development of junior pharmacists, trainee pharmacist, technicians and assistants gaining valuable teaching experience

The Pharmacy Department at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals is a large department (over 150 staff) and a friendly environment with established senior support. To support the Surgery Lead Pharmacist in the provision of a high quality, cost-effective and efficient patient centred pharmacy service to an identified Division and specialist area of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
To play a key role in the Trusts agenda for the prevention of hospital acquired infections and prudent antibiotic usage.
Assist the Division and specialist area in control of their annual drug expenditure.
To fulfil role as a Non Medical Prescriber within specialist area. (Subject to necessary qualification)
