Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a friendly, medium sized Oral & Maxillofacial surgery and Orthodontic department.

The department provides all aspects of Oral Surgery including trauma and emergencies (8.30am - 5.00pm) between Mondays to Fridays (excluding Bank Holidays). There are no evening or weekend on-call commitments.

We pride ourselves on being able to provide excellent support from colleagues in associated specialties.

The successful candidate will be expected to run their own outpatient clinics as well as LA/GA operating lists independently.

The post would be suitable for experienced Specialist Oral Surgeons, CCST accredited Oral Surgeons and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons wishing to drop their on-call commitments.

Main duties of the job

We offer treatment under LA, GA and anesthetist led sedation if necessary. We are expecting to offer training and development alongside clinical commitments.

The successful candidate will be expected to offer flexibility around 2 session days, covering clinics, wards (08:30 - 17:00) and operating theatres (08:00 - 18:00).

The post-holder will be encouraged to be involved in all departmental activities, including undergraduate and postgraduate supervision and training, the monthly teaching and training afternoons and the further development of appropriate departmental audits and outcome measures.

Essential

  • BDS / MBBS or equivalent dental / medical qualification recognised by the General Dental Council / General Medical Council
  • Registration with GDC and on specialist register for Oral Surgery and or registration with GMC and on specialist register for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Evidence of achievement of Oral Surgery / Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Specialist Training from a UK training programme or equivalent
  • Demonstrates the competencies required at the end of UK Oral Surgery / Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Specialist Training at the time of post commencement (or equivalent).
  • Applicants must have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, adequate to enable effective communication about dental topics with patients and colleagues

Desirable

  • ISFE in Oral Surgery
  • Consultant Oral Surgery experience
