Job summary
Fylde Coast Mental Health Support Team (MHST) have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Practitioners to join our team. The Practitioners will work in both education and healthcare settings to support children and young people with emerging mental health and emotional wellbeing needs.
Undertake assessments of problems and provide appropriate therapeutic interventions and advice, delivering services within school and college settings.
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team where required, contributing to assessment and treatment decisions.
Ensure that clinical work is determined by best evidence, displays clear and logical structure in its implementation and is subject to reflection and evaluation.
Deliver services predominantly within education settings within the Fylde Coast area, and working with partners to ensure smooth transition and cross-partner management.
Provide supervision and clinical skills sessions to the Education Mental Health Practitioners within the team.
Main duties of the job
Undertaking appropriate mental health assessments and short-term clinical intervention of children and young people
Providing a range of appropriate, evidence-based clinical interventions
Supervising the Education Mental Health Practitioners within the team
Undertaking a 20-day post-graduate programme of study in Supervision at a north west university

Qualifications
Essential
- RMN/CQSW/DipSW/BSc.OT/BACP Accredited Counsellor/PWP or other therapeutic qualification or other relevant professional qualification including IAPT.
Desirable
- Other Cognitive Behavioural Therapy training and experience.
- Specialist Qualification in DBT, FT or other appropriate therapy (Degree or equivalent), or a programme of formal training in Clinical Supervision.
Experience
Essential
- 2 years post registration evidence of experience in mental health/therapy.
- Mental Health Practitioner with a minimum or two years post-qualification experience.
- High standards of accuracy.
- Evidence of working with childhood, emotional and psychological development.
- Multi-Disciplinary Team working.
- Confident at dealing with people over the telephone, by video and face to face.
- Ability to understand, absorb and comply with detailed procedures.
