We are looking to recruit a Apprentice Pharmacy Support Worker to join our caring, forward thinking Pharmacy team.
This is an excellent opportunity to start a career in hospital pharmacy.
Prior pharmacy experience is desirable but not essential as all training will be provided on the job.
You will need to hold GCSE certificates in English & Maths. To complete the Pharmacy Assistant Apprenticeship you will undertake a Level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills, via blended learning.
Your duties will include:
- Working in the dispensary ensuring the safe and efficient supply of medicines to patients.
- Ordering, receipt and supply of stock medication to wards, theatres and clinics.
- Participate in the environmental monitoring of the Aseptic Unit. Prepare clean room garments for use in the clean rooms, maintain stocks and dispatch items to wards/clinics.
You must be reliable and enthusiastic and have a desire to learn and work towards a nationally recognised qualification if not already held.
The suitable candidate should have a methodical approach to their work, the ability to use their own initiative and be committed to ensuring that high standards are met. Good communication skills are essential.

Main duties of the job
You will be required to work on a rotational basis through the Dispensary, Distribution and Production unit.
You will develop Pharmacy skills required in the job description skills including the issuing of medicines to patients in all areas of the department, Accurately dispense prescriptions which have been previously clinically checked by a pharmacist, for wards and departments, ordering, storage and maintaining pharmaceutical stock according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)'s, customer service skills and communication skills.
You will be supported by our education and training team in the work place while also extending your Pharmacy knowledge and skills by attending distance learning and completing work based activities. Completion of this training could also be used as step towards gaining a professional qualification as a Registered Pharmacy Technician.
