Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an HIV administrator to join the HIV team in Lancaster.

The Lancashire and South Cumbria HIV service is a busy service with a cohort of around 1400 patients. The service is provided by Blackpool Teaching Hospital Trust and provides Clinics across 4 sites in Blackpool, Preston, Burnley, Lancaster and South Cumbria

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic HIV Administrator in Lancaster to work in our HIV service in North Lancashire and South Cumbria sites.

Experience working in a sexual health and HIV is desirable but not essential.

The post holder will work closely with the HIV service manager and Clinical nurse specialists and Health Care assistants in each locality.

This is a 20 hour post to be worked over three days.

The candidate must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. They will need to be well organised and to be able to manage a busy work schedule. They will be expected to work in both the Acute Trust and the Community/Outreach setting.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide comprehensive administrative support to the HIV service in North Lancashire and South Cumbria based at Waterview Clinic. They will support the Consultants and clinical nurse specialists with administrative aspects of results management, repeat prescriptions, patient recalls, HARs entries and data checking.

Additionally the post holder will provide administrative support to South Cumbria, Lancashire and Blackpool HIV service.

  • To prioritise own workload as appropriate ensuring that urgent tasks are completed promptly and to ensure the needs of the service are met.
  • Use all IT packages available including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, Internet and the dedicated software system known as Lilie.
  • Assist in the co-ordination and administration of repeat prescriptions for patients ensuring medication is available timely
  • Work closely with the HIV pharmacist across the south Cumbria and Lancashire service.
  • Work closely with and cover during times of sickness and leave the HCAs role in prescription/stock level management.
  • Enter HARs data and correct errors before submission
  • Ensure clinical results are processed and filed having been reviewed by appropriate clinician/CNS
  • Complete purchase orders on trust ordering system and ensuring invoices are raised and organise payment for events.
  • Attend training events providing administration support for course facilitators
  • To produce accurate quality typewritten work via shorthand/dictation, audio or copy typing.
  • Manage electronic diaries arranging meetings, events and 1:1
