Job summary

This is an ideal role for someone looking to expand their knowledge of therapies. The role is advertised as fixed term. This would give candidates the ideal opportunity to build knowledge, experience and skills towards applying for an Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy apprenticeship.

To accept patients delegated by a therapist and be responsible for the delivery of patient care. To use clinical judgment and freedom, within the scope of practice, and be able to work independently and flexibly without direct supervision but to receive access to regular supervision from a state registered Clinician.

To onboard and support patients with the use of digital resources to manage their condition. To work as an assistant practitioner carrying out routine assessments and treatment sessions as part of an inter-professional team, this will include 1:1 and group work. To work with guidance from Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy or Nursing to provide a service to clients within the Service. To participate as a member of the team, key-working a clinical caseload, within the protocols, objectives and procedures of the team.

To participate as part of an integrated service providing multifaceted interventions with clients.

To carry out and evidence regular CPD activities.

To provide rehabilitation within the community and supporting Integrated Locality Teams and liaising with other acute, intermediate care and community services.

Main duties of the job

Clinical

  • To support all professional staff in the delivery of therapeutic programmes on an individual or group basis. This will involve work from a variety of different disciplines with the post holder needing to prioritise and negotiate to ensure a manageable caseload is achieved in a timely fashion.
  • Carry out treatment programmes and reviews as appropriate.
  • To undertake assessment of clinical risk as part of everyday practice, complete risk assessment documentation and seeking guidance from senior clinicians.
  • To liaise closely with the medical, nursing, AHP staff, social services and acute or rehabilitation staff to promote greater understanding of rehabilitation and Long Covid.

Professional

  • To participate in the development of an inter-professional working environment
  • To support Health and Safety for the team and participate in Health and Safety inspections. To ensure that accurate records are kept and any identified risks are identified and managed.
  • The post holder will ensure compliance with the Trust's risk management Policies and procedures regarding self, staff and patients.
