Pharmacy Technician Clinical Trials

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

The Trust's Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated registered Pharmacy Technician. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small, dynamic, friendly team, dedicated to helping to shape the future of healthcare.

Clinical trials experience would be advantageous, however this is not essential as full training and support will be provided.

This is an exciting time to join the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team, part of the Research, Development & Innovation (RD&I) Team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals. The RD&I team have recently been awarded over £1m government funding to run one of only five National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Patient Recruitment Centres (PRCs) across England. The PRC provides space, purpose-designed facilities and medical expertise to deliver clinical research within our hospital and across the wider region. The PRC operates, as part of a 'franchise model', aiming to deliver high volumes of commercial clinical research within the NHS rapidly and efficiently.

Main duties of the job

To co-ordinate the handling, dispensing and preparation of dispensary and aseptically prepared clinical trial drugs within the pharmacy department, ensuring compliance with International Conference of Harmonisation of Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP) and adherence to the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

To assist the aseptic unit in the preparation of clinical trial medicines.

To carry out pharmaceutical duties in specified areas of the pharmacy, under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy, to provide high quality, accurately dispensed medicines to wards and patients at Victoria Hospital and Community Hospitals.

Our centre looks to increase our NHS capacity to deliver vital research for patients, while decreasing the time it takes to set-up late-phase commercial trials within the NHS - improving the UK's competitiveness in the global market and providing opportunities for patients to benefit from early access to innovation.

Although the position is advertised as a full time post, applications will be considered by candidates seeking part-time employment. The successful applicant will be required to participate in the department's Weekend, Bank Holiday and late duty commitments rota.
