Job summary
We have several exciting opportunities to join the ED Consultant Team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Emergency Department.
We are seeking applicants who want to be part of our commitment to providing high quality, consultant delivered emergency care to support the medical and nursing team and provide a breadth of knowledge, skills, and expertise to the department.
The department is currently offering a Recruitment and Retention Premium to all current and new Consultants. This is to support the expansion to 18 WTE team members. The premium commences at 30% of basic salary up to recruiting the 13th consultant. There will then be an incremental reduction in RRP until all positions are filled.
We are very fortunate to be building a brand new Emergency Village. This will give staff a chance to work in a new emergency department that's modern and fit for purpose. The ED will have excellent facilities offering you a chance to work at the triage or in the rapid assessment and treatment zone as a Senior Decision Maker. Or would you prefer to work in the adrenaline filled zone of the 6 bedded ER with a dedicated paediatric resus bay?
Rarely would you find a department that has a new isolation zone to assess and treat covid patients- you would find that in our department, making it safe for you to work with such high risk patients.
Main duties of the job
Applications are invited on a full or part time basis to undertake this role.
You must hold at least 10 years post qualification experience in Emergency Medicine and hold full registration with the GMC.
You will be responsible for ensuring all patients receive rapid assessment, treatment and clinical decision making whilst ensuring quality and safety are delivered and sustained and undertake reception, resuscitation, diagnosis, and initial treatment of all emergencies as appropriate.
Working with the Nurse Coordinator you will ensure there is effective and timely communication between the clinical team, providing timely intervention and safe care to maintain optimal patient flow. You will liaise with other (medical, surgical, orthopaedic, critical care) departments in the hospital and associated hospitals in the Trust network.
