Job summary
What a great time to consider joining us in the Emergency Department of Blackpool Victoria Hospital. It is a time of change, and we are in the process of implementing a multi-speciality Emergency Village to house the Emergency Department, Same Day Emergency Care and Acute Frailty unit under one roof.
We are looking to develop our existing team and are seeking experienced innovative clinicians to join us. We see Physicain Associates and other non-medical practitioners as a key component of our clinical team. Our Physician Associates work on the Tier 2 rota within the Emergency Department.
Main duties of the job
The role of Physician Associate is an innovative new health care professional who, whilst not a doctor, works to the medical model with the attitudes, skills and knowledge base to deliver holistic care under defined levels of supervision.
The post is part of a multidisciplinary team delivering care to patients across the organisation. The post holder will be accountable for ensuring that patient care is of a high standard at all times and that standards of care and treatment meet the department's requirements.
The post holder will be expected to work with the Department Medical Team to take forward best practice and be an ambassador for Physician Associates. The Physician Associate will work alongside doctors and nurses and other health care professionals at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals. They will be required to assess and examine patients, present them, initiate and interpret investigations and recommend treatment. They will need to liaise with other professionals and specialties as required and complete necessary documentation relating to their patients. The PA will be supervised by a designated consultant with individual mentorship to overview career development.
About us
We recommend that all individuals employed in patient facing roles, or those located on a ward or department where patients receive a service should be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
