Job summary

Interested in specialising in Podiatry at a Band 6 level in a rapidly developing and expanding Podiatry service? We have an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to develop their autonomy and multi-disciplinary working skills.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work across a range of clinical settings, including patients homes across the Fylde Coast. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosing, planning and implementation of podiatric care to patients with a wide range of clinical needs. You will be required to demonstrate skills in biomechanical assessment and the provision of insoles, management of the diabetic foot, wound care and nail surgery. Supervision of students is also required as part of the role.We value our staff and seek to provide a strong programme of CPD, mentorshipand development opportunities underpinned by a Job Plan. The successful candidate would be encouraged to participate in service study days, regular clinical supervision and team meetings as well as 1:1s with your line manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Hold a degree or equivalent diploma in podiatric medicine.
  • HCPC Certificate.
  • Certificate in Local Anaesthetic
  • Post graduate development.

Desirable

  • Over 12 months experience at Band 5

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Experience of managing a caseload of patients who are at special risk because of Diabetes, Rheumatoid conditions, tissue viability and muscular skeletal problems.
  • Previous experience of working in the NHS as a Band 5 Podiatrist.
  • Evidence of CPD portfolio.

Desirable

  • Wound care experience

SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

Essential

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to prescribe orthotics.
  • Ability to participate in nail surgery.
  • IT skills.
  • Evidence of research based practice.
  • Knowledge and application of relevant national guidance.
  • Caring, empathetic and responsible attitude. Be able to handle difficult/emotional situations e.g. imparting unwelcome news.
  • Be able to work under pressure and adapt to change.
