To assist the band 7 in prioritising and organising physiotherapy service to cardiothoracic patients and to be actively involved in service developments in this clinical area.
Band 6 Physiotherapist to play a key role in the provision of high quality physiotherapy service. The employee will be guided and supported through the rotation by clinically specialised staff. To build on previous experience enabling further development of clinical and managerial competencies within the therapist.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and well-motivated Physiotherapist with respiratory and surgical experience to join us in the Physiotherapy Department at Blackpool Victoria Hospital on a fixed term 12 month contract to assist with increased surgical activity.
The post is static on Cardiothoracic Surgery and Cardiology which will cover Cardiac Intensive Care and the Cardiothoracic Surgery and Cardiology Wards, for 37.5 hours per week.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Flexibility is also necessary as the post requires weekend working and on calls on a rota basis. The department in turn has a robust support network and a strong focus on the continuous professional development of staff, including adherence to job plans for protected CPD/SPA time.

About us
To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
To hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences. Access to advice and support from a senior physiotherapist is available if required, clinical work is not routinely evaluated.
