At Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, the Speech and Language Therapy Service is excited to recruit an additional band 5 therapist, on a fixed term contract, into our inpatient team at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in order to support us to continue our delivery of high quality patient care during a team maternity leave.

In our team, we focus on:

  • Setting our goals around what matters to the patient
  • Identifying vulnerable patients early on for intervention
  • Being visible and integrated within our MDTs

Main duties of the job

Experience working with an adult inpatient caseload is most desirable and robust undergraduate knowledge and experience with a range of acquired communication, voice and swallowing disorders in an acute hospital will be essential. A successful candidate will be joining an SLT team with a strong commitment to integrated working and quality improvement. There will be excellent support as well as a robust supervision and appraisal system. You will have the opportunity to work alongside highly specialist staff and integrate into a variety of specialist multi-disciplinary teams.

Because this position is being offered on a fixed term basis, the focus for the role will be in the acute hospital at Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital.

  • Degree qualification in Speech and Language Therapy and/or Masters post graduate qualification
  • HCPC Registration
  • Registered with Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists

Experience

  • Placement or work based experience with SLT adult caseload

Desirable
