Clinical Nurse Specialist- Palliative Care

Job summary

At Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS trust we are very proud of our specialist palliative care and End of life care Co-ordination Hub. The CQC awarded us excellent for our service in 2017. The team consists of specialist Palliative consultants, specialist palliative care nurses for the Acute and community, end of life care facilitators, Urgent response team, day Hospice and Macmillan Occupational therapists. The service is a 24/7 service and provides care to patients who are in hospital and the community in Sandwell and West Birmingham. You will need to have good clinical knowledge around end of life care, complex symptom control and advanced communication.

Please be aware that this is role is for a specialist palliative care nurse across Acute and Community services and will mean base is either at MMUH or Oldbury Council House.

Main duties of the job

We are recruiting a Band 7 Specialist palliative care nurse. You must be an experienced registered nurse and have significant previous experience in the specialty or a related specialty. You must be willing to do on call over 7 days. You will be given the opportunity to rotate between between acute, community and day Hospice with support and training.

We also encourage our Specialist Palliative Care team to take part in education both within the team and across the trust and will be expected to take on project work to improve service delivery.
