Job summary
We are seeking a dedicated ,motivated and skilled clinical Breast Nurse Specialist to join our team in SWBH .In this role you will provide expert clinical care ,support and education to patients who are diagnosed with breast health conditions including breast cancer patients.You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams ,including oncologists,surgeons,radiologists ,and other health care professionals to ensure comprehensive patient-centered care .The ideal candidate will have advanced expertise in breast cancer diagnosis and pathway ,strong leadership skills and a passion for patient advocacy .You will play a key role in developing and implementing evidence-based practices ,offering specialist advice ,and enhancing the quality of care through education,research and clinical leadership .
Main duties of the job
_Provide expert nursing care ,guidance and emotional support to patients with breast cancer

1. Providing Effective Healthcare Demonstrate advanced empathetic interpersonal and communication skillsin dealing with patients and carers through the patient way from diagnosisto palliative care. Demonstrate advanced practice in holistic assessment, planning,implementation and evaluation of specialist Breast Cancer care. This willnecessitate high levels of autonomy and advocacy and include receivingdirect referrals and ensuring the delivery of appropriate care for a caseloadof patients. Demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills and innovative practice inrelevant specialist area. Ensure that there is a system of nursingdocumentation, which reflects this advanced practice. Act as a role modelby demonstrating high standards of holistic care and provide clinicalleadership in the specialist area. Under the direction of the consultant see patients within the Rapid Accesssetting. Duties to include history taking, physical examination andrequesting investigations, whilst encouraging opportunities for healthpromotion and health education. Participate in Nurse Led Clinic for routine follow-up breast cancer patientsin line with agreed clinic protocol. To include, liaison with professionalswithin the MDT, counselling, examination, rehabilitation, survivorship,health promotion and education and breast awareness. Support the nipple tattoo service by running a nurse led clinic withinagreed protocols. Promote clinical excellence reflecting the Sandwell & West BirminghamHospitals NHS Trust nursing strategy and business plans. Assist in developing policies, protocols and clinical guidelines incollaboration with the band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist and the LeadCancer Nurse, which are necessary to support the developing specialistnursing service. Influence decisions regarding service delivery through the participation inmeetings. Promote the services provided at the Trust through conferences.2. Clinical Effectiveness: (Improving quality and health outcomes.Evaluation and research.) Demonstrate commitment to the promotion of skilled practice, which isresearch, based. Is able to evaluate evidence/research, which is pertinent to the specialistarea. Assess and monitor risk in own and others practice acting on the resultsthereby ensuring safe delivery of care. Facilitate, develop and monitor quality initiatives in line with local andnational requirements or guidelines. To participate in the annual review of service and production of a crosssite annual report for the Trust To develop a questioning and open culture within practice. One that willenable both professionals and patients to partake in the development ofthe delivery of excellent care. To develop appropriate information systems and ensure documentationsystems are accessible to assist in high-level delivery of care.
