Job summary
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative and progressive Consultant to join our Ophthalmic team. The appointee will cover Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, MMUH, City Health Campus and Sandwell Health Campus. Applications are welcomed from candidates with experience at consultant level, desirably candidates who have post graduate qualifications in Ophthalmology.
Applicants should demonstrate their capability to be an independent cataract surgeon and we encourage candidates who have other specialist interests.
This post is for 1 x locum post - 12 months.

Main duties of the job
The post will enable the successful applicant to develop new ways of working in general ophthalmology, cataracts and sub-specialist interest. The appointee will take equal responsibility with existing Consultants for the proper functioning of the clinical service, working with clinical and managerial colleagues towards achieving and maintaining national maximum waiting times and developing clinical pathways in line with the maximum 18-week patient pathway guarantee. There is a commitment to General Ophthalmology on-call as part of this post.
