Are you ready for the next stage in your nursing carear. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Sister / Charge Nurse to joing out Paediatric Emergency Department Team. We have an excellent team of health care professionals dedicated to Emergency Care provision. We currently have vacancies for the role of Paediatric ED Sisters/Charge Nurse within the Children's Emergency Department.

You will need to have significant experience working in an acute paediatric nursing or A&E setting. Ideally you will have completed triage assessment, PILS, mentorship and will be able to provide evidence of professional development. We can provide a proactive learning environment with the access to a professional development nurse within the department as well as many supportive in service learning opportunities.

You will have an understanding of the national Key performance indicators, and understand the paediatric nursing standards expected from the RCPHC and RCEM

You will have confidence and show initiative in challenging staff and other members of the MDT, in achieving best patient care and quality

You will be expected to work cross site at City Hospital and Sandwell Hospital until we completed our exciting move to the new Midland Metropolitan Hospital.

Main duties of the job

To co-ordinate the department as a whole, effectively maintaining paediatric patients flow through the department.

To escalate delays in the delivery of care and management of paediatric patients, in accordance with Trust Escalation Procedures, to meet National Performance Targets.

To supervise the activities of the multi-disciplinary team, promoting collaborative working relationships to facilitate the rapid delivery of holistic, seamless care for all patients.

To co-ordinate the activities of the paediatric nursing team, on a shift-to-shift basis, and provide skilled nursing (without direct supervision) to patients, in accordance with responsibilities under the NMC Code of Conduct.

To prioritise care needs, ensuring the delivery of a quality service through effective leadership and efficient deployment of available resources.

You will have a great understanding of safeguarding procedures, and how to complete safeguarding referrals. You will be expected to work along side the band 7 senior team in supporting them in pushing the paediatric service forward.
