Applications are invited for Education Fellowships supporting undergraduate and postgraduate medical education at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust (SWB).

We are looking for enthusiastic doctors with an interest in Medical Education who wish to develop this area further either as:

Clinical Teaching Fellows (CTFs) or as

hybrid CTF / Simulation Fellows (roughly 50% time spent as CTF and 50% time spent as Simulation Fellow).

Main duties of the job

Successful CTF candidates will be an integral part of the Undergraduate Teaching Academy to develop and deliver teaching to medical students from both Aston University (AMS) and University of Birmingham (UoB). Successful candidates for the hybrid posts will also be involved in the development and delivery of a programme of simulation-based training for junior trainees and expand it to include a strong interdisciplinary element

We are recruiting to the following

1 full time post for 12 months

1 post that will be 50% for the first 6 months, then full time for the last 6 months

Successful candidates will be supported to complete a certificate in postgraduate medical education (PGCME) or equivalent during the post

The post-holders will be hospital-based and the clinical teaching will take place at Sandwell and City Hospitals initially. When the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) opens in October 2024 teaching will take place there and at Sandwell

The posts will suit doctors seeking to develop teaching skills and further their clinical interests before entering Core or Higher Specialist Training. For both the CTF posts and the hybrid CTF / Simulation Fellow posts, require postgraduate experience (usually Foundation training) is required. All posts are for one year,starting 7th August 2024. Successful candidates will work as a team to provide ward and simulation-based teaching, as well as mentorship to groups of students
