Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Surgical Directorate as Assistant Service Manager, within the Surgical Services Team. This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week working cross-site between City and Sandwell Hospitals.
The successful candidate will manage a team of Patient Administration Managers and will be instrumental in facilitating the achievement of relevant KPIs. In addition, they will assist in ensuring that all elective clinical work is planned and organised appropriately, and that the service as a whole runs efficiently and effectively.
The successful candidate will be part of our management team, tasked with ensuring the smooth and efficient day to day running across the surgical group.
Main duties of the job
They will lead and manage a team of Patient Administration Managers and have responsibility for achieving national waiting time targets, as well as 2 Wee Wait cancer pathway targets, They will, as part of the wider management team, ensure the smooth running of the directorate, including ensuring that resources are used efficiently and effectively in order to match clinical demand.
We are looking for an organised, proactive, computer literate individual to join the management team of our very busy specialty. They should be able to work well under pressure, work well on their own initiative, but also work well as a team
A thorough knowledge and understanding of 18 week RTT pathways is essential for this role, as well as understanding the cancer pathway and targets. They should also have experience of validation and waiting list management. In addition, the applicant must have excellent communication skills, and the ability to prioritise their own workload in a fast paced, ever changing environment. Line management experience is desirable.
