Job summary

We have an opportunity for a sister/charge nurse posts to join our team on on city Paediatric assessment unit. We are a very busy Paediatric assessment unit with HDU provision co located within ED department at city hospital. Within the Paediatric department we do cover cross site working with our site at Sandwell hospital which allows you to experience new areas and skills , and to gain oversight in all aspects of the Paediatric unit, therefore the successful candidates will be required to cover cross site working to meet the needs of the service.

We are looking for nurses with leadership experience, or willingness to develop in a leadership role. somebody who is motivated, innovative, and dynamic, and who embraces change ,who would like to join our friendly team.

We pride ourselves on providing excellent patient and family focused care to children and there families.

The successful candidate must be able to deputise both clinically and at meetings in the absence of the ward manager and must possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Main duties of the job

Managing a small team of staff and identifying training and development needs through personal development reviews.

Co-ordinate shifts and act as the Nurse in charge.

To assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual programmes of nursing care.

Maximize opportunities for Health promotion

To work as deputy to the ward/department manager to coordinate all ward activities.

co ordinate nursing activity within the clinical setting.

Promote and support development, offering preceptorship and mentorship.

The successful candidate will be expected to complete the External HDU module

You will need to be competent, caring, compassionate with the ability to work as part of a multi disciplinary team.
