Job summary

The Nutrition and Dietetics Service at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust is excited to recruit a to a clinical specialist dietitian in stroke services to work within our New Integrated Community Stroke Services.

Our New Integrated Community Stroke Service (ICSS) opens in early 2023 and the postholder will work with the nutrition and dietetics team and community stroke services to provide nutritional support and dietary intervention to patients following a stroke diagnosis in a community setting. The postholder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and the nutrition and dietetics service supporting patients to achieve their potential, to maximise their recovery and to optimise quality of life in the short, medium and long-term.

We are looking for an innovative individual who is driven to support the clinical delivery of the stroke pathway for our diverse population. Candidates will be joining a service at a time of considerable opportunity. You will need to use highly developed interpersonal skills to establish and foster strong relationships with a range of key stakeholders across the multidisciplinary team to support and enhance the clinical stroke pathway.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will hold a caseload of nutritional support and home enterally tube fed patients; working with patients to develop individually tailored plans to meet their nutritional needs. This is a rewarding prospect working with a caseload of people in their own homes, outpatient centres and care homes within an integrated multidisciplinary team across Sandwell and West Birmingham.
