Job summary

The Nutrition and Dietetics Service at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust is excited to recruit a clinical specialist in critical care & surgery to work within our growing acute dietetic services.

The successful post-holder will work within the surgical wards and critical care multidisciplinary team; with a focus on oral, enteral and parental nutritional support, working with colleagues across the MDT to optimise the nutrition of patients on critical care and surgical pathway.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting role at an exciting time for Dietetics, Allied Health Professionals and Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS trust as we seek to prepare for our move to the brand new Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital in 2024 bringing lots of opportunities for future development.

We are looking for an innovative individual who is motivated by MDT working and keen to work in a growing specialist service for our diverse population. Candidates will be joining a service at a time of considerable opportunity. You will need to use highly developed interpersonal skills to foster strong relationships with a range of key stakeholders working in a service that strongly aligns with our well-established Clinical Nurse Specialist service.

This post strongly aligns with the MDT and post registration dietetic experience in nutrition support and a genuine interest and enthusiasm to specialise in critical care and surgery is essential. The department promotes an career long commitment to learning and development; supporting clinical supervision, training and development opportunities.

About us

The Nutrition and Dietetics Department is a growing team of more than 30 members based across Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. We have regular departmental meetings and education meetings. We are strongly integrated with the speech and language therapy team and continued professional development is promoted and supported.

The Department trains student dietitians from Coventry and Birmingham City Universities across the full range ofplacements.

There is excellent administrative support, IT facilities and access to modern Trust library facilities.

Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS trust is located near major road and rail networks with easy access to Birmingham. There are a wide range of leisure facilities locally.
