Job summary

Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our award winning Finance team as a Assistant Management Accountant.

We are seeking to appoint an individual to support the creation of high-quality financial reports, liaise with budget holders and manage various stakeholder relationships within the Trust and externally. The role will support both a Primary Care Network and traditionally Acute departments - an opportunity which is rare within the NHS today.

This post will provide excellent experience and support to someone who is looking to establish a career within a progressive NHS Finance Department. The previous post holder has been successful in gaining promotion within the department.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate good Microsoft Excel skills and has experience using financial systems. An adaptive approach to meet deadlines whilst providing concise financial information and advice to non-financial managers is essential. This post is best suited to a self-motivated individual who is able to prioritise workloads and extract the most from themselves and others around them.

Job responsibilities

  1. Preparation and input of accurate reversible and standard journals into the financial ledger as required, ensuring a proper audit trail, detailed working papers and journal descriptions
  2. Provides input to the Group and Directorate financial projections
  3. Identify where variances are and analyse the differences from budget. Assist in the implementation of solutions.
  4. Assist in processing of internal and external recharges.
  5. Main point of contact for ward and department managers.
  6. Assist in the smooth running of workflows between the different finance functions. Assist in the finance and business planning cycle.
